Physics Learning Center General Information228 Fisher Hall - Phone 906.487.2173Last updated September 23, 2008. The Physics Learning Center offers a variety of services to students seeking extra help or instruction in the general physics courses. The center is staffed by successful student coaches who receive continual training for professional development. Physics coaching is available for the following courses:
Coaching is available during "walk-in" hours and through one-on-one appointments. A Team Learning option is also available for PH1110, PH1210, PH2100 and PH2200 students each semester. Walk-Ins - UPDATED FOR FALL 2008NOTE: Postings in other locations may be inaccurate.
Coaches will be available for assistance on a walk-in basis for anybody in introductory physics courses. Walk-in hours begin the second week of the term. One-on-One AppointmentsOne-on-One Appointments offer individualized instruction in physics problem solving and general study skills from physics coaches. Students can sign up for a weekly one hour appointment with a coach. New sign up sheets are posted outside the Physics Learning Center the first week of each semester. Students will then sign up for a time to meet each week. Assignments to coaches are made on a first come first served basis. Students may enroll in PH0010, a zero-credit course, after they have met with a coach. Team LearningCollaborative approach to the study of physics. Students meet 2 hours per week with a team of 4 to 6 other students currently taking the same course in introductory physics (PH1110, PH1210, PH2100, or PH2200). Students work under the direction of a physics coach to learn the team appoach to solving physics problems. Being prepared and participating in the team is a requirement. Sign-up sheets are made available the first week of each semester at the Physics Learning Center. Students sign up for teams subject to the availability of coaches and subject to compatibility of schedules of coaches and other team members. Team members may enroll in PH0020, a zero-credit pass/fail course For more information, visit the Physics Learning Center or email the PLC Head Coach . StaffHead CoachRyan Toll Faculty Advisor
